Canning Meat & Potatoes
Tonight we will talk about canning meat. I just learned to can chicken and pork this month. I had a blast doing it! I found a great website that has step by step instructions how to can chicken with a pressure cooker.

I also have a friend who cans carrots and potatoes together. She says that when she wants a quick meal, she'll take the beef she canned, and add the bottle of carrots and potatoes with a little beef bullion and it make a great beef stew!

Group Meeting 1/28/09
For those of you who wern't able to make it, we had a great time with our first meeting for our Food Storage Support Group! This is going to be a great way to get your food storage together! Each month you'll be given a list of what you need to purchase. This way, by January 2010, you'll have a years worth of food! Keep in mind that this is a basic food storage and that anything that your family LOVES (spices, jello, etc)....make sure you have these items in addition to this food storage. Also, when it calls for wheat or flour, change it up a bit! Get some weat flour and some white flour, or red wheat vs white wheat!
Throughout this year, we'll also share some recipes and tips as well. What good is a food storage without being able to use it, right?
Last night I asked some of the reasons why we would need food storage. There are tons of reasons why we would need, but I found this article this morning that is a HUGE reason why!
